Wheat-flour Tortillas

This super-easy recipe works brilliantly in a food mixer with a dough hook, or you can of course knead the dough by hand. You’ll never want to eat the pre-packaged kind again!
Ingredients
  • 450g flour (3 cups)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50 ml vegetable oil (1/3 of a cup)
  • 200 ml lukewarm water (1 cup)
Instructions
  1. Measure out all the ingredients into a bowl; if you’re using a machine, measure them directly into the mixer bowl. Mix until all the flour has been incorporated and you have a pliable ball of dough; knead for 5 minutes. If you’re using a machine you can just turn it on and it will do the work for you – wait for it to have formed a dough, and then leave it running for another 5 minutes or so and you’re done.
  2. Divide the resulting ball of dough into 12-16 small balls (depending on how big you want the tortillas to be). Leave to rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Using a rolling pin, roll out one of the dough balls to form a flat circle..
  4. Preheat a dry non-stick frying pan and cook the tortilla for about 30 seconds on each side; while it’s cooking, roll out the next one.
  5. Repeat with the remaining dough balls until you’re done.
Notes
Note: the tortillas freeze well inside a resealable plastic bag.
